How it's calculated
This is the wind triangle the E6B solves on its sliding card. The wind correction angle is the angle whose sine is the crosswind part of the wind divided by your true airspeed. Groundspeed is your airspeed along the new heading, less the headwind part of the wind.
- A negative correction angle means you crab left; positive means right.
- Use winds aloft in degrees true with a true course. Then apply variation and deviation to get the compass heading.
The other E6B tools
- Time, speed and distance
- True airspeed
- Density altitude and pressure altitude
- Crosswind and headwind components
Fuel and weight-and-balance sides are not here on purpose: those numbers come from your own airplane's POH.
